Re: Business Operations Manager

 Dear Hiring Team,

I would love to join your Marvel team as Chief of Staff. Not only was it enjoyable to peruse some of your content (puns? codenames? Notion? !!), but I am also drawn to your mission of impacting the health and life of your customers. (I also like that your blog posts are written thoughtfully and also reviewed by medical experts.) As someone who in the past did not have the best relationship with food, and being aware of the chronic health issues affecting our country, your product and roadmap are very exciting to me. I believe my strengths and the breadth of my professional background will enable me to effectively contribute to the efficiency, productivity and objectives of Fay.

I love Business and I love Operations. While I have lots of proud moments (and also learning experiences from failures, of course) from my trajectory as a business generalist, here are a few from my recent role that come to mind in relation to the job description:

  • I report to our President and other executives, who trust me to provide operational insights, streamline operations processes, and lead special projects that need particular attention to detail. I recently helped our VP of Finance successfully close out a financial audit he inherited and made some changes to our reporting and accounting processes.

  • I’m not one to work with my head in the sand or accept the status quo, and I’m constantly looking for ways to improve systems, processes, and tools/resources and to pivot when necessary when new priorities or initiatives arise. I’m currently revamping our receiving process and systems to streamline business flow and improve efficiency and collaboration between our Accounting, Logistics, Fulfillment and Marketing teams.

  • I’m a huge data and spreadsheet geek. I created and maintain several of our performance and analysis dashboards (a mixture of Google Sheets and NetSuite data) including production KPIs, team OKRs, and efficiency tracking. I’m also currently wrapping up a costing analysis for a couple of new offerings we’re planning to launch this summer.

  • I love working with people and recently completed an assigned adjunct role of Interim Director of Fulfillment where I led an untrained team in our new Dallas location, created a framework for quick onboarding, and mentored the new leads until a Warehouse manager was hired.

I did note from doing some research that there seems to be some critique around reaching/getting answers from your Customer Support and also relationship management with some dietitians on your platform (billing, etc.). I assume this is due mostly to the pains of being a fast-growing business and the constant re-balance of priorities; I’m sure you have other internal-facing pain points as well and I would love to see if I can help “maintain the operating cadence of the business” as described in the job description. I’d be happy to explore this more either virtually or in-person at your SF hub (in Russian Hill maybe, by the looks of your photos?) if you’re interested. Thank you for your time and consideration!
